Details of service in war: The 3rd NSW Mounted Rifles was attached to Colonel Rimmingtons column from 2 May 1901 until 28 April 1902. They took part in operations in the Eastern Transvaal and Eastern Orange Free State 1901-02 including Boer breakthrough at Langverwacht (24 February 1901). They also took part in drives in 1902 at Harrismith capturing 251 persons 26,000 cattle and 2000 horses. There was also a MG section attached.
